Torricella is Ricasoli’s historic white wine, made from Chardonnay grown high in the hills around Brolio. The vineyard sits at around 400–500 metres on the sandy, stony soils of the Macigno del Chianti formation, helping give the wine its combination of richness and freshness. The 2024 is aged for around nine months in tonneaux on its lees, with frequent bâtonnage and 20% new wood. The result is a serious Tuscan Chardonnay with texture, mineral character and the structure to develop further in bottle.
Tasting note
Pale straw with golden highlights. The nose shows ripe yellow fruit, pear and citrus alongside floral notes, a touch of vanilla and subtle toasted characters. Rich and rounded on the palate, but kept fresh by lively acidity, with ripe fruit, a gentle creamy texture and a distinctly mineral, savoury finish. A beautifully balanced Chardonnay with plenty of character and length.
