Made by Jessica Saurwein, Om comes from a dry-farmed vineyard on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge in South Africa, just 12km from the sea. The combination of granite soils, cool nights and maritime influence gives the Pinot Noir freshness and definition. Hand-picked grapes are naturally fermented before spending ten months in French oak barrels, with a proportion of new oak. The 2024 vintage has real concentration and structure, balancing ripe fruit with bright acidity and fine tannins. It’s a more structured, savoury style of Pinot Noir, with the depth to develop beautifully in bottle.
Tasting note
A fragrant nose of red cherry and raspberry, with hints of rose petal, wild herbs and exotic spice. The palate combines vibrant red fruit with notes of fynbos, earthy savoury character and white pepper. Fresh acidity and fine, grippy tannins give the wine structure and focus, leading to a long, elegant finish. Concentrated yet precise, this is a Pinot Noir with both immediate appeal and good ageing potential.
