Sourced from the cooler zones of the Vinho Verde region, Alma Loureiro reflects the Atlantic’s presence in every facet. The vines thrive in granite soils, low in organic matter, which result in low yields but high expression. This austere terroir, combined with constant Atlantic breezes, imparts the wine with intense freshness, vibrant acidity, and a finely tuned saline character.

The result is a precise, focused expression of Loureiro - a wine with energy, aromatic clarity, and a strong sense of identity.

Terroir

Alma Loureiro originates from Valença, on the left bank of the Minho River, in the far north of Vinho Verde. Here, three defining elements converge: Granite soils, a cool Atlantic climate and moderate altitudes.

The vineyards sit on gently sloping hillsides with ideal sun exposure, continuously refreshed by oceanic breezes. In this unique geological and climatic setting, Loureiro reveals its most authentic self floral, citrus-driven, fresh, and textural.

This is a terroir that guides rather than dominates, allowing the grape to fully express its natural character.

Vinification

Grapes are harvested by hand at peak ripeness, then gently whole-bunch pressed—a careful method that avoids harsh extractions. The must undergoes cold static settling for 48 to 72 hours, followed by a slow, temperature-controlled fermentation (14–16ºC) in stainless steel.

After fermentation, the wine ages on fine lees for at least six months, building texture and aromatic complexity while preserving Loureiro’s natural vibrancy.

Tasting Notes

On the nose, Alma Loureiro offers a clean and vibrant aromatic profile, marked by:

Floral notes: white-petaled flowers, orange blossom, and jasmine

Fruit: crisp green apple, pear, and delicate hints of tangerine

The palate is precise and refreshing, with a finely balanced texture and a lingering mineral finish
