Produced by Taylor's Port in the Douro Valley, the 2024 is a declared Vintage Port, sourced from the house’s top estates, including Quinta de Vargellas, Quinta de Terra Feita and Quinta do Junco. The wine is composed of traditional Douro varieties—principally Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz—grown on steep schist slopes, which provide concentration, structure and a distinctive mineral profile.
Fermentation is carried out in a mix of traditional granite lagares (with foot treading) and modern temperature-controlled systems, followed by fortification and a short period of ageing in large oak vats before bottling unfiltered. The 2024 vintage reflects a classical Taylor’s style, emphasising structure, precision and long-term ageing potential.
Tasting note:
The wine shows a deep, opaque purple-black colour, with an intensely aromatic nose of blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum, layered with violet, bergamot and hints of wild herbs. On the palate it is full-bodied and firmly structured, with dense, fine-grained tannins and vibrant acidity providing tension and longevity. Flavours of cassis, black cherry and dark chocolate are supported by a pronounced schist-driven mineral core. The finish is long, powerful and precise, with lingering floral notes, dark fruit and spice.
A benchmark Vintage Port, combining power, definition and complexity, built for extended cellaring and capable of evolving over many decades.
