A classic Friulian white with a little more weight and texture than its fresh, aromatic character might suggest. Friulano has been grown in the region since the 19th century, having arrived from France during the period when French grape varieties were being introduced to Friuli. Today it is one of the region’s signature white grapes, particularly well suited to the Colli Orientali and its combination of hillside vineyards and mineral-rich soils.

Ermacora keeps the winemaking deliberately simple, allowing the grape and the vineyard to take centre stage. The grapes are partly cryo-macerated for several days before gentle pressing and fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel at 17–18°C. Malolactic fermentation is avoided, and the wine then spends around six months on its lees with regular bâtonnage, adding texture and depth while retaining its freshness. It is bottled and given a further period of rest before release.

The result is a dry, rounded and nicely savoury white, with aromas of acacia and wild flowers alongside yellow peach, pear, citrus and the characteristic hint of almond. On the palate it is fresh and mineral, with good weight and a gently persistent finish that brings back notes of almond and fine herbs. Versatile and very food-friendly, it is particularly good with seafood, white meats, cured ham and fresh or lightly aged cheeses.
