A classic medium-rich Madeira, Bual (Boal) sits between the sweeter Malmsey and the drier Verdelho styles. Aged for around a decade in seasoned oak using the traditional canteiro method, it develops depth and warmth while holding onto a fresh, lifted edge. The result is a wine that leans into richness but keeps a firm sense of balance and structure.
Expressive and layered on the nose, with notes of golden raisins, toasted almonds and a touch of citrus peel. The palate is smooth and gently sweet, showing flavours of caramelised nuts, dried apricot and a hint of spice. There’s a bright line of acidity running through it, giving shape and freshness. The finish is long, mellow and slightly smoky, with a pleasing nutty dryness at the end.
