When a group of winemakers, including Australian Zar Brooks, his Bulgarian wife Elena Golakova Brooks, Spaniard Luis Jiménez García, and Italian Nicola Tucci, stumbled upon ancient Garnacha Tintorera vines in Manchuela, they were dismayed to discover that they were being destroyed. In response, they established Cien y Pico, named in honor of the vines' centuries-old age. The project's success is attributed to the combination of their low-yielding, well-established vines and expert winemaking techniques, resulting in wines with intense color, rich flavor, and balanced structure. Nestled in the dry, limestone-rich soils of Castilla-La Mancha, these four vineyards benefit from the protection of the surrounding mountains and the warm, sunny climate at an elevation of nearly 1,000 meters.
This 'En Vaso' Bobal is aged in oak barriques for 12 months, resulting in a smooth and juicy wine with soft tannin.
