2020 Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas La Geynale
Vincent took the oppertunity to buy this vineyard from his uncle, who also helped him set up back in the early days. the vines are around 100 years old and will have the ability to age for a very long time. Vincent is really making some of the finest Cornas red wines in the region.
Inky purple. A complex bouquet evokes ripe blackberry with some hints of red fruit, smoky Indian spices and a floral edge. It shows impressive structure but there's nice give here as well. Fine-grained tannins lend shape to the long, smoke-tinged finish, which leaves notes of dark berries.
Cornas food pairing - such a fine wine cries out for something special so a nice rib of beef would be amazing. That said it would go well with most red meats, so think lamb, duck etc. Another nice pairing would be venison, the smokey peppery edge slotting in nicely.
