Hacienda de Chihuahua Sotol Añejo is an aged northern Mexican spirit called Sotol made from daslyrion or wild desert spoon rather than agave, giving it a character all its own. Daslyrion is genus of perennial, drought-tolerant plants native to the deserts and arid regions of northern Mexico.
Matured in oak barrels, it combines the structure and warmth of an añejo with sotol’s naturally earthy, herbal edge. The result is smooth and rounded, but still a little wild—something familiar if you like aged tequila, yet noticeably more savoury and grounded.
Tasting note:
Soft vanilla and toasted oak lead on the nose, with hints of almond, dried herbs and a touch of citrus peel. The palate is smooth and lightly sweet, showing honey, orange and gentle spice, balanced by earthy, grassy notes underneath. The finish is medium-long, warming and slightly dry, with lingering oak and desert herbs.
