Made from Ugni Blanc grown on the chalky, free-draining soils of the Cognac region, where the vines send their roots deep in search of water. Distilled in a traditional small Charentais alembic still, this cognac was first matured for 6–8 months in new Limousin oak before spending the rest of its 25-year ageing in older barrels.
It opens with inviting aromas of dark chocolate, followed by layers of wild cherry, bay leaf, ginger honey and a long, warming finish of orange marmalade. A slow, careful reduction over almost four years ensures the alcohol is perfectly integrated, creating a beautifully balanced and complex cognac.
An ideal digestif after a long dinner.
