From Ángel del Río e Hijos in Sanlúcar de Barrameda, this is a rare, extended-aged Manzanilla en rama made from 100% Palomino Fino, sourced from prized vineyards in the Miraflores pago.

Aged for a significantly longer period than standard Manzanilla—often approaching pasada/old Manzanilla territory—the wine develops under flor in the traditional criaderas y solera system, in cellars heavily influenced by the Atlantic’s humid, saline air. Bottled en rama (with minimal to no filtration), it retains its full texture, intensity and natural haze. Production is extremely limited, with only small selections drawn from specific barrels, making it a highly sought-after, niche bottling.

Tasting note:
A deep golden colour, slightly cloudy from its unfiltered nature. The nose is intense and evolved, showing roasted almond, hazelnut and chamomile, alongside dried apple, sea spray and a pronounced oxidative edge from extended ageing. On the palate it is bone dry, concentrated and layered, with flavours of salted nuts, citrus peel, bruised orchard fruit and savoury umami notes, underpinned by a powerful saline and iodine character. The texture is broader and more textured than youthful Manzanilla, yet still driven by a fine, persistent acidity. The finish is long, complex and deeply savoury, with lingering nutty, maritime and slightly bitter almond notes.

A profound and authentic expression of aged Manzanilla—saline, complex and beautifully evolved, bridging the gap between fresh Manzanilla and the depth of Amontillado.
