Produced by the historic Levi Serafino Distillery, the base alcohol used in this vermouth is red wine made from Nebbiolo grape grown in the Barbaresco area of Piedmont. Tthe vermouth begins with this structured local wine, which is then fortified with grape spirit and infused with a selection of herbs, roots and spices in the traditional Italian vermouth style.
Using Barbaresco as the base gives the vermouth a deeper, richer character compared with white vermouth styles. Expect notes of dark fruit, dried herbs and warm spice layered with the classic bittersweet flavours of wormwood and botanicals. The result is a complex and aromatic vermouth that showcases the distinctive character of Nebbiolo from the Barbaresco region.
