Guided Tasting with Nick Fisher
Friday 30th October
7pm – 9pm
From Montélimar in the north to Avignon in the south, the vineyards of Southern Rhône enjoy a warm Mediterranean climate, tempered by the Mistral wind. The combination of climate, soils and grape varieties produces wines that are generous and full of flavour, but with plenty of individuality from one appellation to the next.
Nick will talk us through the different appellations, exploring the distinctive terroirs, grape varieties and producers that shape the wines of the Southern Rhône. We’ll look at what makes each area different and how those differences come through in the glass.
We’ll taste our way through some of the Southern Rhône’s best-known appellations, including Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Rasteau and Cairanne, alongside the lesser-known Vinsobres and Costières de Nîmes. We’ll also explore a white Châteauneuf-du-Pape and finish with a sweet Vin Doux wine, showing just how broad the Southern Rhône can be.

The reds will showcase the region’s characteristic combination of ripe fruit, spice, herbs and structure, while the white Châteauneuf-du-Pape demonstrates that the Southern Rhône can produce whites with just as much richness and character. The Vin Doux will give us another side of the region altogether.
Good wine deserves good food — so we’ll be serving our generous artisan cheese and charcuterie boards alongside the tasting.
A chance to explore some of the Southern Rhône’s classic appellations, discover a few less familiar names and taste the diversity that makes this such a fascinating part of France.
