The Wines of Bouchard Finlayson
Established in 1989 by Peter Finlayson, Bouchard Finlayson is a boutique winery nestled in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley (the name translates to Heaven and Earth), just outside Hermanus in the beautiful Western Cape of South Africa. For the last 10 years winemaker Chris Albrecht has produced some of the finest wines of the region. Located in the wine ward of Walker Bay, this 125 hectare property currently has 22 hectares under vine; the rest is mountainous terrain, covered by the spectacular indigenous ‘fynbos’ flora of the Western Cape.

Blanc De Mer 2019 - Usual price per bottle £13.50. Offer price £10.80 when buying six or more bottles(can be mixed)
An unusual but nonetheless lovely blend of Riesling, Viognier and Chardonnay from the Cape, where Riesling is virtually unknown as a blending partner. The name Blanc de Mer translates to ‘White of the Sea’. Inspired by the estate’s close proximity to the coastal town Hermanus where the Southern Right whales come to calve during the late winter and early spring. It really is a perfect summer wine offering silky richness with a lemon/saline freshness.

Walker Bay Sauvignon Blanc 2020 – Usual price per bottle £15.99. Offer price £12.80 when buying six or more bottles(can be mixed)

Sourced from 25 yo vineyards lying within five kilometres of the cool Atlantic Ocean, and the heavy shale clay soil that typifies the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley lends an inviting tropical tone to the flavour profile. Apple and pineapple flavours are balanced by 'wet stone' minerality and refreshing acidity. Now under screw cap.

Sans Barrique 2018 – Usual price per bottle £15.99. Offer price £12.80 when buying six or more bottles(can be mixed)

Sourced from high altitude vineyards where the non-irrigated soils are clay-based and ensure a unique opportunity to achieving the character associated with the best Chardonnay wines. Usually this also happens through maturing in French Oak barrels. In this instance, the Sans Barrique Cuvee enjoys no wood, which is the key to its crisp, clean personality with pear & quince aromas, lemony freshness and a creamy texture.
