A Taste of Modern Rioja Friday 30th September

This tasting explores six of Rioja's new wave of winemakers that are all distinctly different from each other. At the start of the 21st century a new generation of producers in Rioja began changing how Spain’s most quintessential wine was made and produced. Amongst other things they focused on terroir driven wine, longer maceration, shorter ageing and less intervention in the winery. This new wave of winemaking has become known as Modern Rioja which now happily coexists with the classic style of Rioja.  

This wine tasting is untutored and informal allowing you to taste at your leisure. We'll serve an aperitif on arrival followed by a flight of 6 Riojas, accompanied by a sharing board of Spanish charcuterie and cheese. Full tasting notes on your table will give you background information and space to note any of your own observations. We will be milling around pouring wines and are on hand to chat or answer any questions.
