Celebrating Beaujolais Nouveau Day and The Cru Beaujolais Tasting Flight Thursday 18th November
Beaujolais has undergone something of a renaissance in recent years and we are big fans of this joyous wine. This flight is all about rediscovering Beaujolais wine and its delightful fruit flavours balanced by earthy minerality and a fresh acidity that keeps you coming back for more.
Beaujolais Nouveau Day celebrates the first wine of the harvest. The Nouveau isn't released until 12.01am on the third Thursday in November and the race is then on to get it here on time. Fresh and fruity with a clean uncluttered palate this wine doesn’t take itself too seriously and is designed to be drunk young, though we think it settles down with a bit of age.
However not all Beaujolais need to be young, some of the 10 Cru Beaujolais produce wines that are beautifully complex and will age 5-10 years very happily.
In addition to the 2021 Nouveau we will show a flight of six of the less well known Cru Beaujolais.
Accompanying your tasting flight will be a plentiful cheese and charcuterie sharing board.
We're hoping this years race to get the new release Beaujolais Nouveau to our shop will be successful given all the shipping problems but our supplier is pretty confident. In the event it doesn’t arrive a suitable alternative will be served.
