Giuseppe Quintarelli Offer
Giuseppe Quintarelli Offer April 2021 - SOLD OUT
We are really pleased to be able to offer wine from one of Italy’s most legendary wineries. Step forward Valpolicella maestro Giuseppe Quintarelli! This is our biggest offer to date from Quintarelli all of which is incredibly rare. Wines this good and this scarce are clearly not going to be cheap so we are afraid these are going to dent your wallet but the quality across all their wines is clear to see.
Quintarelli Bianco Secco 2019 £37.99 Offer price £32.99
Local varieties Garganega, Trebbiano, Saorin as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay make for an exotic floral aroma packed full of delight which is interspersed with an underlying minerality and freshness. This wine is drinking well now but could be aged beautifully for the next 5 years.
Quintarelli Primofiore 2018 £55.99 Offer Price £47.99
The “first flower” is the earliest red wine released by the estate and made from Corvina, Corvinone, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. This wine sees very little appassimento (grape drying) however the Cabernets are partially dried to add concentration, all the other grapes are freshly pressed. This is technically entry level but of course nothing is entry level when it comes to Giuseppe Quintarelli but this does have great fruit and approachability with stunning balance.
Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico 2013 £101 Offer Price £85.15
This is stunning and quintessential Quintarelli, made from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella this is very much like a baby Amarone adopting classic Ripasso techniques. A Quintarelli release is never rushed so this is 8 years in the making which adds a level of aged complexity other wines miss. It’s a very serious wine and it’s special already but it’s clearly going to age well. If you were to have one red wine from Quintarelli then this is the one. Unquestionably a serious treat wine but we all need a treat every now and then!
Quintarelli Ca Del Merlo 2012 and 2013 £92.99 Offer Price £79
The brother to their Valpolicella Classico this is made in the same way but with some Cabernet and Nebbiolo in the mix. It gains a touch more fruit but also more structure. Some of the grapes are pressed straight away and some are dried for a few months, finally a second fermentation is started on the lees from their Amarone thus Ripasso! We have two different vintages which would make for a fun dinner if you tried the two side by side.
Quintarelli Rosso Del Bepi 2010 £163 Offer Price £138.55
Effectively this is declassified Quintarelli Amarone; they only make their Amarone in the very best years. In cooler years Quintarelli declassifies their Amarone to become Rosso Del Bepi but no corners are ever cut! The grapes are dried until the end of December and then pressed. This in any other hands would be classed as a great wine but doesnt live up to the crazy heights wanted in quality for their Amarone. These are tremendous wines in their own right and while at this price they should be (understatement), they are half the price of the Amarone.
Quintarelli Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico 2012 £342 Offer Price £290.70 (Magnum also available £620.50 )
Ground breaking and right up there on any wine lovers to do list. A classic blend of local grapes Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella are dried for months and then given some serious aging in oak. Like a lot of wines from this region the alcohol can be high but Quintarelli can produce a wine with a crazily high alcohol but also retain a freshness and elegance hidden under the power.
Quintarelli Alzero 2008 and 2011 £380 Offer Price £323
This is so rare and yes priced accordingly. It is essentially a Bordeaux blend given the Amarone treatment. It is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot and like with their Amarone they are able to get a remarkable freshness from such concentrated grapes. Both vintage are drinking well now but going to age well for decades to come.
