Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection, 20% Off 6 Bottles or More

We are really pleased to be able offer this super deal on three of the Kleine Zalze premium wines from their Vineyard Selection range.

Kleine Zalze came into the hands of the Basson family in 1996 and they have invested massively into the farm which has taken Kleine Zalze onto another level. It is now regarded as one of the best wineries in Stellenbosch. The Platter Guide even made it the winery of the year in 2021, that’s how on form they are. The history of grape growing goes all the way back to 1692, when Nicolaas Cleef settled on a farm known as de Groote Zalze. This is just outside Stellenbosch on the banks of the Blaauwklippen river.  They planted 7 000 vines on de Groote Zalze. Then over the coming centuries it had numerous owners and boundary changes until it ended up with the Basson family.

Offer Expires 4 June 2022

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2020 £15.50 (offer price £12.40)

This is made from dry farmed vineyards, so not irrigated and the grapes are picked in the morning to avoid the South African heat. Only the free run juice is transferred to the fermentation.

Textbook Sauvignon Blanc with classic gooseberry and citrus aromas and a nice herbal edge. This would sit comfortably alongside premium New Zealand Sauvignon!! So this very well priced in comparison.

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Chenin Blanc 2020 £15.50 (offer price £12.40)

The grapes are grown on bush vines with an average age of 30 years and picked in the morning before it gets to hot. Only free run juice is used. The wine is fermented in oak barrels and amphora and then spends 7 months on its lees.

It has aromas of soft fruits like melon and peach with well integrated oak adding flavour and texture. The wine has nice acidity and good minerality. This is drinking beautifully and an absolute steal at the offer price.

Kleine Zalze Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 £18.99 (offer price £15.20)

After three years of drought vintages the rainfall in 2019 was welcome and the Cabernet ripened earlier than usual. After fermentation the wine is transferred to French oak barrels (40% new, 30% second fill, 30% third fill) for 19 months before bottling.

Classic Cabernet characters of cassis, blackcurrant and herbaceous notes. It has balanced oak flavours and the tannins are soft and supple. This is a very classy wine indeed and drinking well now but will age well for a good 10 years.
