Tutored Tasting - Boekenhoutskloof

Thursday 30th September 7pm - 9pm

Boekenhoutskloof is renowned for being one of South Africa’s most respected wineries and we are huge fans of their wines. We are very excited to put on this tutored wine tasting of their current vintages so you can see for yourselves why we love these wines so much. We’ll also delve into our cellars and winkle out the odd older vintage to show just how brilliantly they age.
Boekenhoutskloof was established way back in 1776 in the beautiful Franschhoek valley. In 1993 the winery was bought over and visionary winemaker Marc Kent set about replanting with Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Semillon and Viognier. Marc is unafraid to experiment with the unconventional but his primary commitment is to quality on every level and in every detail.

Marc has recently headed into Portugal to make some wines, an example of which will be served as an aperitif.

Here's an idea of what you will be tasting:

Semillon 2017- Sourced from vineyards over a 100 year old, this is a rich wine with concentration and structure and great potential for ageing mainly from 100 year old vineyards.

Stellenbosch Cabernet Sauvignon 2017 - Beautiful black fruit characteristics and minerality and graphite like profile derived from the unique combination of soil, aspect and the maritime influence from False Bay.

Syrah 2017- Sourced from vineyards in Porseleinberg and Goldmine in Swartland. Mulberry, dark plum and black berry, grainy tannins give a great structure with good integrated acidity for balance.

Franschoek Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 - Classic dark berry fruit exceptional tannins and a wonderful natural acidity. A small amount of Cabernet Franc was added to give subtle fragrance and finesse.

Noble Late Harvest Semillon 2018 - Lush and balanced and incredibly fresh with citrus and honey notes.

Plus two older vintages including the ultra rare Journeyman Cabernet Franc.

Cost is £30 per person which includes an aperitif.

Please note we won’t be serving food but will provide bread and olive oil to keep your palates fresh!
