Undiscovered Wines of Savoie Tasting Flight Friday 8th April

Undiscovered Wines of Savoie Tasting Flight Friday 8th April

The first untutored tasting flight of Spring and we are delighted to bring you the little known fresh and unpretentious wines of Savoie. Located in the foothills of the Alps, Savoie is one of the last, great undiscovered wine regions of France.

The vineyards are set amongst widely dispersed, small communities, clustered together in the narrow alpine valleys, growing regional grape varieties such as Altesse, Mondeuse and Jacquere as well as some international ones. Very much under the radar it is following in neighboring Jura's footsteps and starting to attract international attention.

The wines come from Domaine Chevallier Bernard who in 2021 were elected one of the Winemakers of the Year by the guide Hachette. They farm sustainably and became the first estate in the Savoie to be HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementable) certified.

We've really enjoyed tasting these wines and discovering grape varieties unfamiliar to us. Savoyard wines offer a fresher, lighter style, often with lower alcohol levels but are also intriguing with aromas, tastes and flavors of local varietials and terroir.
