A distinctive Japanese-style whisky that combines smoky peated malt with the rare influence of Mizunara oak. The whisky is matured first in Madeira wine casks, adding a layer of gentle sweetness, before spending several years in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels—an expensive and notoriously difficult wood to work with. This unusual oak brings unique flavours often described as sandalwood, coconut and aromatic spice, giving the whisky a character quite different from typical Scotch peat styles.
The result is a balanced whisky where soft smoke meets sweet fruit and fragrant oak. On the nose and palate you’ll often find notes of orange peel, honey, green apple and light campfire smoke, followed by hints of coffee, cinnamon and tropical fruit on the finish. Bottled at 46% ABV, it’s a refined, approachable peated whisky—less intense than many heavily smoky drams, but layered with complexity from its unusual maturation and oak influence.
