This single cask release was selected and bottled by Samaroli, one of the most respected independent bottlers in the whisky world. The whisky was distilled in 2013 at Caol Ila on the island of Islay and bottled in 2023 after maturation in oak cask. Samaroli is known for selecting casks that emphasise balance and aromatic complexity rather than overt power, and releases are typically produced in very limited quantities.
Tasting note:
The whisky opens with a refined coastal smokiness, showing aromas of sea spray, iodine and gentle peat, layered with lemon peel, green apple and light vanilla sweetness from oak maturation. On the palate it is structured yet elegant, with flavours of smoked citrus, malt, saline minerality and subtle spice developing through the mid-palate. The peat smoke is persistent but finely integrated, allowing notes of honeyed malt, white pepper and maritime brine to emerge. The finish is long and clean, with lingering coastal smoke, citrus oils and mineral salinity, reflecting the classic character of Caol Ila interpreted through Samaroli’s precise bottling style.
