Nestled at an elevation of 1500 feet on the volcanic, granitic slopes of the Plymouth property in Amador County, the Cobb Vineyard Zinfandel pays tribute to the original owner, "Buck" Cobb, from whom both the vineyard and the Karly property in Amador were acquired. To honour Buck's legacy as an aerobatic pilot, a bi-plane symbol is incorporated into the label.
The challenging terrain and the harsh, variable weather conditions, including occasional snow in this vineyard, cultivated without irrigation, contribute to the creation of a robust and resilient Zinfandel.
The wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Petite Syrah, Mataro and Alicante Bouchet. The grapes are head-trained, dry-farmed and hand harvested, with wine aged for 15 months in oak barrels.
