2013 Niepoort LBV (magnum)
Our favourite Port house. The LBV is aged in large wooden vats for 4 to 6 years before bottling. This gives it a roundness enabling it to be drunk on release. That said due to minimal interference Dirk Niepoorts LBV's do age very well. Deep ruby in colour, intense dark fruits on the nose and palate with some firm tannins and great sweetness on the finish. Better than some Vintage Ports. LBV is the perfect Port to accompany chocolate desserts, specially bitter chocolate or a pepper steak.
