The second release and Whittaker's have nailed this! its so smooth and drinkable, if you like Bourbon style then this will be for you.
Produced by Whittaker's Distillery in Yorkshire, “Against the Grain” is a single cask English whisky, crafted with a focus on individuality and small-batch precision. The 2026 release is drawn from a limited single cask, bottled at natural strength, with no chill filtration to preserve texture and character. As with the distillery’s approach, the whisky emphasises grain character, cask influence and purity of spirit.
Tasting note:
The whisky shows a deep amber hue, with a layered nose of toasted cereals, vanilla and caramel, complemented by dried fruit, spice and a subtle oak richness. On the palate it is full-bodied and textured, with flavours of toffee, baked apple and malt sweetness, supported by warming spice and a gentle nuttiness. The cask influence is evident but well integrated, adding depth and structure without masking the spirit. The finish is long and warming, with lingering sweet spice, oak and a touch of dried fruit.
A characterful and limited English whisky, combining richness, balance and individuality, with a clear sense of craft and place.
