Gaja - Ca' Marcanda and IDDA Super Tuscan and Sicilian Wine Tasting

We are thrilled to welcome back the delightful Francesca Cioce, the UK Ambassador for Gaja, for an exclusive tasting and exploration of their Tuscan and Sicilian offerings.

Gaja needs little introduction to lovers of fine Italian wines and this tasting focuses on their Super Tuscan wines of Ca' Marcanda in Bolgheri and IDDA  wines from the slopes of Mount Etna.

 The quality of Gaja's wines is such that they have been described as "perhaps the finest Italian wines ever made" by the Wine Spectator. In 2021, in between lockdowns, we held a special tasting of mostly their Barolo and Barbaresco wines which was a sell out event and an amazing evening.

 In the mid-1990s, Gaja expanded beyond its Piedmont base to acquire estates in Tuscany, including the renowned Ca’Marcanda in Bolgheri, the home of Super Tuscan wines. Ca'Marcanda wines are celebrated for their exceptional quality, meticulous craftsmanship, and the Gaja family's unwavering commitment to showcasing Bolgheri's unique terroir.

 The next chapter in the Gaja family's winemaking journey led them to the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, where they embarked on a collaborative venture with the Graci family. The result is IDDA, a genuine expression of the region's terroir that perfectly complements their wine portfolio.

 For this special event, we're shaking up our usual cheese and charcuterie sharing board tradition. Instead, after the tasting we’ll serve a delectable Tuscan sausage pasta (veggie alternative also) courtesy of our friends at Gianni’s Brio. This part of the evening will give you the opportunity to chat to Francesca and your fellow guests over good food and wine served from Magnums of Vistamare or Promis.
