We first ran into these beautiful and elegant wines 10 years ago, so we jumped at the chance for them to grace our shelves once more.
Tenuta Sella are based in Northern Piemonte at the foot of the Alps of Biella and are one of the longest standing and most respected producers in the region.
The distinctive terroir of clay and limestone soils coupled with altitude and climate create the perfect growing conditions for a refined and fragrant expression of Nebbiolo, the cornerstone of Tenute Sella's wines.
While some of these wines drink well when young we are delighted to have some older vintages to show how well this wine can age.

2021 Piandoro Bianco D.O.C Piemonte £22.99
A newish wine to Sella's portfolio, it is mainly made from Riesling Renano more commonly found in Friuli and Alto Adige. The remainder is made up with little known local variety Erbaluce which marries well with the Riesling also showing dry crispness and high acidity. The vineyard is made up of volcanic rock which imparts a subtle minerality to the wine.
2022 Majoli D.O.C Coste Della Sesia £17.99
We loved this - a rosato made from Nebbiolo! As the trend continues for paler and dryer rose it is refreshing to see a rosato like this. It has a little more body with pronounced red fruits but still wonderfully dry. It's got enough about it to handle grilled meats but refreshing enough at the same time.
2022 Orbello D.O.C Coste Della Sesia £21.99
This is very much the house red of Sella and is a blend from the younger vines and made up of Nebbiolo, Vespolina and a touch of Cabernet Franc. The wine has a bit of grip but plenty of bright red fruit and hints of minerality. Maybe best enjoyed over a meal but it has more than enough guts to age for 10 years if you wished.
2015 Bramaterra D.O.C Bramaterra £35.99
Made on the highest hill in Bramaterra, in the Villa del Bosco. Bramaterra was first mentioned as far back as 1447. Sella picks from their best parcels and it is made from Nebbiolo 70%, Croatina 20%, Vespolina 10%. It’s a world class wine and will age gracefully for 20 years plus.
2016 Lessona D.O.C Lessona £36.99
Tenute Sella’s flagship wine with grapes one of the most important vineyard sites in the whole of Piemonte. It is made from Nebbiolo 85% and Vespolina 15%. The Vespolina has softer tannin than Nebbiolo and as a result mellows the younger Nebbiolo. Again a wine that’s approachable now but will keep of developing for 30 years plus.
2006 Omaggio a Quintino Sella D.O.C Lessona £99.99
The jewel in the crown and only produced in the best years. Its basically the best pick of Lessona and is made from Nebbiolo 85%, Vespolina 15% and this wine from 2006 shows just how beautiful and age worthy these wines are. Yes not cheap but a fraction of what you would pay for something of this quality from Barolo or Barbaresco!
